Danziger Studio
Los Angeles, California
2008 project in collaboration with Gregory Walsh, FAIA
The program called for the conversion of the original Danziger Studio designed by the partnership of Frank O. Gehry, FAIA and Gregory Walsh, FAIA in 1965 into a single family residence for a couple with a young son. The commercial building was desecrated by the addition of a second floor in the previous two story studio volume in 1995. The proposed design scheme honored the intent of the original design by removing the intervening second floor addition to create a new open living area and gently reworking the existing building to meet other program requirements.
